Questions & Reviews

What are the benefits of Induction?

Induction cooking directly heats the pan; heating will only begin when cookware is properly placed on the cooking zones. Fast and efficient - Induction cooking zones heat faster and use less energy. Induction power levels are quick to boil and they are efficient when simmering.

A cooler cooktop - A unique feature of the induction cooking zones is, whether it is turned on or off, the cooking zones remain cooler than radiant type elements. Virtually no wasted heat is produced since the heat begins with the presence of cookware.

Easy cleanups - The cooler cooking zones make cleanup easier. Spills resist sticking or burning so they wipe up easily.

Magnetic detector - The cooking zone has a sensor that automatically detects whether cookware is magnetic. This will reduce accidental “turn-ons.”

Pan size detection - The pan size recognition sensor automatically detects and adapts the induction cooking zones to the pan sizes in use for consistent, more even cooking.

More responsive - Induction cooking zones are more responsive than their electric or gas counterparts because only the pan heats. This type of cooking heats easier and will be just as responsive when reducing to a simmer.

What type of cookware do I use with Induction?

For the best possible surface cooking results, it is recommended to only use high quality heavy gauge cookware on the induction cooking zones. Be sure to follow all the manufacturer’s recommendations when using cookware made for induction cooking. To check if the cookware base material is suitable, use a magnet to test. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of the cookware, the material type is correct. The most common induction cookware types available are:

Stainless steel - Generally excellent for induction cooking plus it is durable, easy to clean and resists staining. However, it is important to note that not all stainless steel is magnetic.
Cast iron - Good for induction cooking. Cooks evenly. Do not slide cast iron cookware on cooktop. Cast iron cookware with a rough surface will scratch ceramic cooktop.
Porcelain-enamel coated metals - Heating characteristics will vary depending on quality of base material. Porcelain-enamel coating must be smooth to avoid scratching the ceramic cooktop.

For more information or tips on cookware, visit your Owner’s Manual."

Why does my Induction range make noises when I’m cooking?

Some cookware can hum or buzz when used in induction cooking. The surface and oven controls click as they work to create even cooking temps. Temp changes during preheat and cool-down can make parts of the range expand and contract. Different fans run to heat up the oven or cool down different parts of the range, even when it’s off. These sounds are normal.

Can I 'mute' the audible tones on my appliance?

The option to silent audible tones may not be applicable on all models so you want to check your Owner’s Manual. For applicable models - When selecting a function on your display, an audible tone is heard each time a key is pressed. If you desire, the display can be programmed for silent operation. To set the controls for silent operation:

Press and hold Start Time for 6 seconds. The display will beep once and then you can release the key.
The controls are now set for silent operation.
To return your audible tones to normal operation:
Press and hold Start Time again for 6 seconds until the display beeps once and then you release the key.
The controls are now set for audible operation.

30" Freestanding Induction Range is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 199.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Electronics, service We have always liked Frigidair, style, and value. We were planning on purchasing two new sets for our new house ( i am going to re think it). Last light buzzers and errors started on our stove. We did not purchase an extended warranty (we hand never needed one with our past Frigidair appliances). After 14 months of normal use this error happens. We get it we are on our own for fixing it, but this has seriously affected our belief in your company's products and parts you use in your appliances. Our locality in your products even with the electrical was why we went with you instead of other brands. Some times simple is better. Mo

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Stovetop EVER I bought induction as a) I am used to induction being that I am European and almost everybody in Germany has induction by now b) it is so much faster to cook your meals and c) no more burning yourself at a hot surface when handling multiple pots cooking and d) MOST IMPORTANTLY: you save energy by being more efficient. Water boils in 30 seconds; pasta cooks in 4 minutes,... be sure to use induction designed cookware though. This is a great appliance, it does not break your wallet AND you save money in the long run. I wish more ppl knew about induction. I turned all of my friends on to switch to induction.... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Burner malfunctioned after just 6 weeks! After using this range a mere 6 weeks, one of the burners stopped working. I missed the return period offered by the store by only a couple of weeks, so was left to instead deal with the hassle of submitting a warranty claim, which included waiting around my house 5 hours for the repair company to show up. Although the subcontracted repairman was very nice, I was disappointed to learn a part needed to be ordered, and installed on a later date. This meant rearranging my work schedule yet again in order to accommodate another 5-hour window for the repair person to return. Talk about starting off on the wrong foot... Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent stove and oven The stove works just as advertised - it heats up pans super quickly, and has a wide range of available temperatures. My only gripe is that the difference between the lowest and second-lowest temperatures is too large, so that cooking rice, for example, involves frequent switching back and forth between these settings. The oven, which I use only on convection mode, is great! One feature I am not happy about is the storage drawer, which doesn't hang properly, so that as you pull it out it becomes more and more crooked. However, overall this is a terrific appliance. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best range yet!! We purchased this range about 2 months ago as a replacement for a traditional flat-top electric range. We originally wanted gas in order to avoid over cooking/heating when a pan is left on the "burner". Too expensive to get gas to our kitchen...induction was recommended. BEST DECISION EVER!! Another problem with our previous range...inaccurate temps in oven. This is perfect. INSTANT on/off and exact temps in oven. We've had MANY different stoves/ranges...this is THE best. Quick to bring range-top up to temp...water boils in <1 minute...it will change the way you cook...for the better!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mostly happy with stove We bought this just short of 60 days ago, and other matching appliances from the Gallery line. We were a little hesitant to go to induction, but decided to jump in anyway, new cookware, etc. We are very happy with the cooking performance of this range. That being said, what we are not happy with is the same problem that seems to be affecting others. We keep getting random F40 errors, at very odd times, last night it was well after midnight, which is now just annoying. I'm almost at the point where we might have to flip the breaker each night for the range just so we can sleep through the night. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great induction for price! I bought this oven about a month ago and I really am enjoying working with it! I had worked with induction burners as a professional cook for the past three years and I knew this is what I wanted in my home. The oven works very well but I wish it had more than two racks. I also wish that I had a smudge proof top! The good news is that it is easy to clean. I found the instruction manual to be very clear and easy to read. The only thing I haven't tried as yet are the self cleaning functions [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Appropriately priced I am coming from a home with a Bosch drop-in induction top. Bosch's range is twice the price of this one, and I would have paid it to continue using Bosch, but it is too large for the space I have to fill. This stove fits the space, but it has half of the control of the Bosch (only 11 heat settings instead of 21), and this one does not include things like timers for each burner. The convection is nice. The storage drawer is very poorly made and flimsy as a result. I recommend this only when other options aren't available. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Before You Buy

Measure your space

Measure the width, depth & height of opening. For clean access the door should be able to open 90 degrees or more.

Haul-away

Many retailers have haul-away programs if they deliver your new range. Check to see what retailers offer and have a plan when you’ve selected a new range.

Check your doorways

Check the doorways to ensure your range can easily get into your home. Measure from the stops on each side since those are the closest contact points.
