What are the benefits of Induction?

Induction cooking directly heats the pan; heating will only begin when cookware is properly placed on the cooking zones. Fast and efficient - Induction cooking zones heat faster and use less energy. Induction power levels are quick to boil and they are efficient when simmering. 

A cooler cooktop - A unique feature of the induction cooking zones is, whether it is turned on or off, the cooking zones remain cooler than radiant type elements. Virtually no wasted heat is produced since the heat begins with the presence of cookware. 

Easy cleanups - The cooler cooking zones make cleanup easier. Spills resist sticking or burning so they wipe up easily. 

Magnetic detector - The cooking zone has a sensor that automatically detects whether cookware is magnetic. This will reduce accidental “turn-ons.” 

Pan size detection - The pan size recognition sensor automatically detects and adapts the induction cooking zones to the pan sizes in use for consistent, more even cooking. 

More responsive - Induction cooking zones are more responsive than their electric or gas counterparts because only the pan heats. This type of cooking heats easier and will be just as responsive when reducing to a simmer.

What type of cookware do I use with Induction?

For the best possible surface cooking results, it is recommended to only use high quality heavy gauge cookware on the induction cooking zones. Be sure to follow all the manufacturer’s recommendations when using cookware made for induction cooking. To check if the cookware base material is suitable, use a magnet to test. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of the cookware, the material type is correct. The most common induction cookware types available are:


Stainless steel - Generally excellent for induction cooking plus it is durable, easy to clean and resists staining. However, it is important to note that not all stainless steel is magnetic.
Cast iron - Good for induction cooking. Cooks evenly. Do not slide cast iron cookware on cooktop. Cast iron cookware with a rough surface will scratch ceramic cooktop.
Porcelain-enamel coated metals - Heating characteristics will vary depending on quality of base material. Porcelain-enamel coating must be smooth to avoid scratching the ceramic cooktop.

Why does my Induction Range make noises when I’m cooking?

Some cookware can hum or buzz when used in induction cooking. The surface and oven controls click as they work to create even cooking temps. Temp changes during preheat and cool-down can make parts of the range expand and contract. Different fans run to heat up the oven or cool down different parts of the range, even when it’s off. These sounds are normal.

How do I know what power level to use on my induction cooktop surface?

If you were accustom to using Low, Medium or High settings, we want help you become familiar with the settings on your Induction range. Here is a quick easy guide to help you but feel free to refer to your Owner’s Manual for more information and tips.

Can I 'mute' the audible tones on my appliance?

The option to silent audible tones may not be applicable on all models so you want to check your Owner’s Manual. For applicable models - When selecting a function on your display, an audible tone is heard each time a key is pressed. If you desire, the display can be programmed for silent operation. To set the controls for silent operation:

Press and hold Start Time for 6 seconds. The display will beep once and then you can release the key.
The controls are now set for silent operation.
To return your audible tones to normal operation:
Press and hold Start Time again for 6 seconds until the display beeps once and then you release the key.
The controls are now set for audible operation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value Induction Pros: Efficient heat deliver. The food cooks, not me. Tons of power: Water boils in half the time, steaks sear in even less. Easy to clean Cons: It doesn't get along as well as I'd hoped with my All Clad cookware I bought specifically for it. The largest burner only works with cookware that is far larger in diameter. The heat isn't as even as with gas. This may also be related to the point above, but the heat is concentrated in a circular area in the center of the cookware, with I'd guess about 50% area coverage. Overall, I still love having it, and intend to stick with induction indefinitely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like cooking on gas! I’ve had my new stove for 2months and love it. It boils water so quickly i have to make sure I have my food ready to place in the water. The constant temperature and quick change to raise or lower temperature are as good a my old gas stove. Most of my pots and pans are induction safe, just stick a magnet on the bottom. If it sticks it’s good. One negative...it is a touch screen and I would rather have knobs.

If you want a rolling boil an just a couple minutes, this range will do it and with no red-hot burners. You can fry foods in a cast iron dutch oven and never, ever worry about the stove catching fire...ever! It's just fabulous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this stove in a big way! So easy to use and clean up couldn't be easier! Heats pans incredibly fast! "Burner" shuts off automatically when pan is removed but if you shortly return the pan it will resume cooking at the same setting! When you're done cooking, the stove can be touched witthin about 2 minutes and there's an indicator light to tell you it's safe. Highly recommend this product!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from FAST Love the speed, scarily fast. Would give 5-stars if worked on the first day. Something popped (very loud) and stopped working within 5 min for initial power-on. Both boards were replaced within 2 weeks. My first FRIGIDAIRE, it popped. I guess you get what you pay for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SO fast! We've had our induction top range for 3 weeks now and my only regret is that we didn't buy it sooner! We used to wait 15 minutes for water to boil on our electric range and now with the induction power boost it takes 3 minutes. I can finally have pasta dinner on the table ready to eat in under 20 minutes. I also love how easy the top is to keep clean. I would definitely recommend upgrading to induction over electric if you aren't on the fence!

Before You Buy

Measure your space

Measure the width, depth & height of opening. For clean access the door should be able to open 90 degrees or more.

Haul-away

Many retailers have haul-away programs if they deliver your new range. Check to see what retailers offer and have a plan when you’ve selected a new range.

Check your doorways

Check the doorways to ensure your range can easily get into your home. Measure from the stops on each side since those are the closest contact points.
