How do I improve my baking results with my Frigidaire range?

By using the proper rack position, you can improve your baking results, especially if you are baking on multiple racks.

  • Rack placement: When using only one rack, place the rack so the food is in the center of the oven. Follow the instructions in your Owner's Manual for more information.
  • Preheat: Fully preheat the oven before baking items like cookies, cakes, biscuits, and breads. Insert food immediately after the beep.
  • Checking food: Use the window and oven light when checking food. Opening the door may reduce baking performance.
  • Bake: Bake is the best function to use for baking on multiple racks.

For more information or tips to try, your Owner’s Manual has great information on how to optimize your baking performance and recommended rack positions based on food type.

How do I limit the amount of smoke when using the ReadyCook™ Air Fry Tray?

Air Fry uses superheated air to cook food fast and make it crunchy. Although Air Fry uses hot air to cook, remember that you are still frying your food so it gets crispy! When some high-fat or greasy foods (like fresh wings) meet that hot air inside an oven, some smoke is normal. If Air Fry is making a lot of smoke, try these tips:

  • When using the Air Fry Tray, put a baking sheet on a rack or two below the Air Fry Tray. This keeps drips and crumbs from landing on the oven bottom, where they can burn and create smoke. For additional protection, place some foil-lined parchment paper on the baking sheet. Parchment paper traps oil and keeps it from smoking.
  • Use cooking oils that can stand up to a high temperature like avocado, grapeseed, and peanut oils. Cooking sprays made from these oils are available at the grocery store.
  • Keep foil, parchment paper, and bakeware of the bottom of the oven. The oven bottom needs to stay clear so air can circulate.
  • Don’t overcrowd the food on your baking sheet or on the Air Fry Tray. If air can’t circulate around each item, the cooking and crisping process may slow down and allow more grease to settle or drip.
  • If your catch-tray is smoking, try placing parchment paper on it to hold grease. For extra moist foods, you may have to use more.
  • Some foods, like fresh wings and some vegetables, have a lot of moisture and may drip more than you expect. For items that might drip, use a pan with low sides if you’re not using an Air Fry Tray.
  • Air Fry uses superheated air, so if your oven bottom already has drips or crumbs on it (it happens!), those can smoke. Keep your oven bottom clean.
  • If you have an oven vent, use it when cooking with Air Fry, like you would when using the cooktop.

For additional tips and tricks on how to use the Air Fry feature, see our Tips on Using an Air Frying Range article.

How do I insert and remove my racks from my Frigidaire range?

Most racks can easily be removed by pulling the rack straight out until it reaches the stop position, but always check your Owner’s Manual first, since the types of racks in your range may vary by model.

To keep your oven racks gliding smoothly when you’re removing or inserting them, we recommend applying cooking oil along their outer edges.

  • Tilt the front of the oven rack up to slide past the stop position and pull the rack out of the oven cavity.
  • To insert the rack, rest the oven rack evenly between the left and right front guide along the oven walls so that the oven rack rests level.
  • Tilt the front of the rack upward and slide rack in past the stop position.
  • Bring the rack to a level position and slide the rack completely inside the oven.

If your range is equipped with the Effortless Oven Rack system, refer to your Owner's Manual for specific instructions. The Effortless Oven Rack system will automatically partially extend the oven rack from the interior oven glides to assist in easier access to your food items. This feature works whenever the oven door is opened or closed.

Note: Only the Effortless Oven Rack system should be used in the oven rack position 2. Placing any other rack in the oven rack position 2 will prevent the oven door from fully closing and may damage the oven door, oven cavity, or the door connector brackets.

How do I clean my Frigidaire range?

If your range has Smudge-Proof™ Stainless Steel:

  • Use a soft, clean cloth, with mild dish detergent and water, or a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water.
  • Rinse with clean water, and dry with soft clean cloth.
  • Do not use appliance cleaner, stainless steel cleaner, or a cleaner containing abrasives, chlorides, chlorine, or ammonia. These cleaners may damage the finish.

For more information, check your Owner's Manual for helpful tips on cleaning and caring for your range, including the exterior and interior components such as the knobs, racks, cooktop, and more.

How do I set my oven or range to self-clean?

To self-clean your oven, follow these simple steps:

  1. Remove the oven racks.
  2. Set your oven control to clean.
  3. Select a cleaning time or choose a cleaning level: light, medium, or heavy soiled. For typical cleaning needs, we recommend that you select a cleaning time of three hours or choose the medium soiled setting.
  4. Select Start. (To set a delayed start, see your Owner's Guide)

Note: For safety reasons, the oven door will remain locked until the oven cools down. When it is sufficiently cool, the door will automatically unlock.
