  • What is the proper way to clean my air filter?

The air filter should be checked at least once a month to see if cleaning is necessary. Be sure to unplug the unit before cleaning to prevent shock or fire hazards. To clean the filter, open the front panel and remove. The air filter is reusable and may be cleaned using liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water. After cleaning allow the filter to thoroughly dry before replacing. You may also vacuum the air filter to remove excess dirt and particles.

  • Can my room air conditioner be covered while in use to prevent outdoor debris from getting inside vents?

Proper air flow into the air conditioner is essential for performance and safe operation. Under no circumstances should you block or cover any exterior or interior vents of the unit.

  • How does the power cord work on my air conditioner? When should I test the plug?

For your safety all Frigidaire air conditioners feature a 3-prong grounding plug and current leakage detection device. These enhanced plugs help to detect damages to the power cord and can be tested following a few simple steps. 1. Press the reset button 2. Plug the cord into the power outlet 3. Press the test button, the reset button should pop up 4. Press reset button for use 5. Do not use room air conditioner if above test fails. For more information please consult your use and care manual.

  • What is the additional vent located under my air louvers?

On select models, you may notice a small tab identified with Open / Fresh Air / Closed.

This fresh air vent allows the air conditioner to: 1. Recirculate inside air - Vent Closed 2.  Draw fresh air into the room - Fresh Air  3.  Expel indoor air outside - Vent Open. Note: When in the cool mode fresh air venting or exhaust venting will affect cooling and decrease performance.

  • I have noticed water dripping outside of my room air conditioner, is this normal?

Water dripping outside is a normal function of the room air conditioner, especially during periods of excessive humidity. If condensation need to be directed, window air conditioners have a key hole drain in the bottom of the unit where one could connect a ½” drain hose for safe disposal of excess system water.  Part: EA150D / 5304481680. Never drill holes into the bottom of the room air conditioner to remove water. If water is dripping inside the room during the cooling, this is due to improper installation. Please refer to installation instructions or check with your local installer.

  • I have noticed that my ENERGY STAR air conditioner is frequently in Econ mode?

For all new ENERGY STAR products the EPA has regulated that all ENERGY STAR air conditioners must be factory set to Energy Saver (Econ) mode. If you turn the room air conditioner off in cool mode, and restart the unit it will default back into Energy Saver mode. You may select out of Energy Saver mode by selecting the mode button, however we recommend using the feature to help save energy.

  • What is Econ mode?

Econ mode, or Energy Saver mode, is a setting that works similar to central AC. The room air conditioner will turn off once the set temp is reached; the fan then cycles on (for 20 sec.) every 10 min to sample the air temp. If the room temp is above the set temp, the compressor will turn back on. Since the room air conditioner is not running at all times, this setting will help save energy while ensuring the room temperature stays at the set temperature.

  • What does the Clean Air button do?

When this feature is on, the electronic air purifier is energized to remove pollen and impurities from the air. To cancel this feature, press the Clean Air button.

  • What is a BTU?

It is a professional term rating an air conditioner. BTU stands for British Thermal Unit - the quantity of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of water one degrees Fahrenheit. The higher the BTU the larger space the room air conditioner will cool.

  • What size window unit do I need?

The size of the window unit needed will depend on the size of the room you wish to cool. To determine which size you need, measure the width of the room by the length and multiply those numbers together to determine the square footage.

  • What happens if I lose power?

After a power outage, the unit will memorize the last setting and return the unit to the same setting once power is restored.

  • What does Sleep Mode mean?

When this mode is enabled, the selected temperature will increase by 2 °F 30 minutes after the mode is selected.  The temperature will then increase by another 2 °F after an additional 30 minutes.  This new temperature will be maintained for 7 hours before returning to the originally selected temperature.  This ends the “Sleep” mode and the unit will continue to operate as originally programmed.  You may also cancel sleep mode at any time by again pressing the sleep button.

  • Why is my room air conditioner making noise?

Room Air Conditioners, during operation, may make noise.  It is normal to hear ‘high pitch chatter’ a sound of rushing air, gurgle/hiss, pinging or swishing and vibration.  These are all normal.  For more definition of noises, please refer to your product’s Use and Care guide.

  • How do I store my room air conditioner for winter storage?

If you plan to store the air conditioner during the winter, remove it carefully from the window according to the installation instructions.  Cover it with plastic or return it to its original carton.  NOTE:   To prevent rust or electrical connections from being damaged, store air conditioner in an upright position and a dry place.

  • Why is my Filter Reset light on?

This feature is a reminder to clean the Air Filter (refer to Care and Cleaning section of the Use and Care Guide) for more efficient operation.  The LED light will illuminate after 250 hours of operation. After cleaning the filter, plug the unit back into the power source and reset the filter by pressing the ‘Filter Reset’ button and the light will go off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horribly Loud! This air conditioner makes loud swishing noises far above normal levels. Our unit is installed perfectly (tilted slight backwards) and it clearly does not drain properly. We are not able to sleep when it is turned on in the bedroom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Quiet and civilized This is the third unit of this model that I've had. Very quiet, nice looking, unobtrusive in operation, enough capacity to cool at least two medium-sized rooms on low. I bought my first one over two years ago but this summer it just stopped cooling but otherwise functioned OK. Amazingly, Frigidaire covered this failure fully under the original warantee by shipping me a brand new unit of the same model, which I am using now. So I'll credit the company with standing behind it's product with no trickery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Quiet Bought this model a month ago and it is as advertised. It is very quiet and yet is able to cool our bedroom quickly and efficiently. Putting it in was a breeze - we have vinyl windows and I just added a small piece to insure it would drain outwards. Controls easy to use and very functional. Not a heavy monster either. Very pleased and would recommend it to others who do not need a huge BTU unit

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Timer doesn’t work after one month I would rate it five starts but I cannot get the timer to work. And no one at Frigidaire has done anything to help me get this feature back. The unit was only one month old. The remote is pretty flimsy too.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for a 250-square foot room We bought two of these—one was a 6,000 and one was a 8,000. The one that is 6,000 is for a very small room, less than 250 square feet, and it just does not perform well. We replace an LG in this room that was too noisy, but it did at least cool the entire room. This one only seems to push air directly in front of it. It also makes more noise than the other one we bought.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent window AC unit. This is by far the quietest window AC I have ever owned! It cools down 3 rooms quickly and quietly! Only issue is with the remote...the face is glued on and keeps falling off - otherwise it’s a wonderful unit!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from ricky4 is a genius for fixing that annoying sound I don't know how he figured out that covering 1/4 of the vent on the left side stops that wooshing noise that lots of people have complained about, but it's worked so far. I don't know why Frigidaire won't just acknowledge that the noise exists, insisting that it's just the sound of air coming through the vents, as if none of us knows how a window air conditioner works and is supposed to sound. My other Frigidaire AC (which I'm very happy with) doesn't make that sound.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from two units bad first unit started making a loud air tunnel whooshing noise after two months. replacement unit had a louder fan blade hitting something noise.
