Energy Guide

  • What is the proper way to clean my air filter?

The air filter should be checked at least once a month to see if cleaning is necessary. Be sure to unplug the unit before cleaning to prevent shock or fire hazards. To clean the filter, open the front panel and remove. The air filter is reusable and may be cleaned using liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water. After cleaning allow the filter to thoroughly dry before replacing. You may also vacuum the air filter to remove excess dirt and particles.

  • Can my room air conditioner be covered while in use to prevent outdoor debris from getting inside vents?

Proper air flow into the air conditioner is essential for performance and safe operation. Under no circumstances should you block or cover any exterior or interior vents of the unit.

  • How does the power cord work on my air conditioner? When should I test the plug?

For your safety all Frigidaire air conditioners feature a 3-prong grounding plug and current leakage detection device. These enhanced plugs help to detect damages to the power cord and can be tested following a few simple steps. 1. Press the reset button 2. Plug the cord into the power outlet 3. Press the test button, the reset button should pop up 4. Press reset button for use 5. Do not use room air conditioner if above test fails. For more information please consult your use and care manual.

  • What is the additional vent located under my air louvers?

On select models, you may notice a small tab identified with Open / Fresh Air / Closed.

This fresh air vent allows the air conditioner to: 1. Recirculate inside air - Vent Closed 2.  Draw fresh air into the room - Fresh Air  3.  Expel indoor air outside - Vent Open. Note: When in the cool mode fresh air venting or exhaust venting will affect cooling and decrease performance.

  • I have noticed water dripping outside of my room air conditioner, is this normal?

Water dripping outside is a normal function of the room air conditioner, especially during periods of excessive humidity. If condensation need to be directed, window air conditioners have a key hole drain in the bottom of the unit where one could connect a ½” drain hose for safe disposal of excess system water.  Part: EA150D / 5304481680. Never drill holes into the bottom of the room air conditioner to remove water. If water is dripping inside the room during the cooling, this is due to improper installation. Please refer to installation instructions or check with your local installer.

  • I have noticed that my ENERGY STAR air conditioner is frequently in Econ mode?

For all new ENERGY STAR products the EPA has regulated that all ENERGY STAR air conditioners must be factory set to Energy Saver (Econ) mode. If you turn the room air conditioner off in cool mode, and restart the unit it will default back into Energy Saver mode. You may select out of Energy Saver mode by selecting the mode button, however we recommend using the feature to help save energy.

  • What is Econ mode?

Econ mode, or Energy Saver mode, is a setting that works similar to central AC. The room air conditioner will turn off once the set temp is reached; the fan then cycles on (for 20 sec.) every 10 min to sample the air temp. If the room temp is above the set temp, the compressor will turn back on. Since the room air conditioner is not running at all times, this setting will help save energy while ensuring the room temperature stays at the set temperature.

  • What does the Clean Air button do?

When this feature is on, the electronic air purifier is energized to remove pollen and impurities from the air. To cancel this feature, press the Clean Air button.

  • What is a BTU?

It is a professional term rating an air conditioner. BTU stands for British Thermal Unit - the quantity of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of water one degrees Fahrenheit. The higher the BTU the larger space the room air conditioner will cool.

  • What size window unit do I need?

The size of the window unit needed will depend on the size of the room you wish to cool. To determine which size you need, measure the width of the room by the length and multiply those numbers together to determine the square footage.

  • What happens if I lose power?

After a power outage, the unit will memorize the last setting and return the unit to the same setting once power is restored.

  • What does Sleep Mode mean?

When this mode is enabled, the selected temperature will increase by 2 °F 30 minutes after the mode is selected.  The temperature will then increase by another 2 °F after an additional 30 minutes.  This new temperature will be maintained for 7 hours before returning to the originally selected temperature.  This ends the “Sleep” mode and the unit will continue to operate as originally programmed.  You may also cancel sleep mode at any time by again pressing the sleep button.

  • Why is my room air conditioner making noise?

Room Air Conditioners, during operation, may make noise.  It is normal to hear ‘high pitch chatter’ a sound of rushing air, gurgle/hiss, pinging or swishing and vibration.  These are all normal.  For more definition of noises, please refer to your product’s Use and Care guide.

  • How do I store my room air conditioner for winter storage?

If you plan to store the air conditioner during the winter, remove it carefully from the window according to the installation instructions.  Cover it with plastic or return it to its original carton.  NOTE:   To prevent rust or electrical connections from being damaged, store air conditioner in an upright position and a dry place.

  • Why is my Filter Reset light on?

This feature is a reminder to clean the Air Filter (refer to Care and Cleaning section of the Use and Care Guide) for more efficient operation.  The LED light will illuminate after 250 hours of operation. After cleaning the filter, plug the unit back into the power source and reset the filter by pressing the ‘Filter Reset’ button and the light will go off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for what I needed. I live in Palm Spring Ca and needless to say it is hot most of the year. I really appreciate the fact that i can remotely start my AC to be ready for me when i arrive. and I can also make sure it is off in case i run out too quickly and forget. makes the 120º plus weather more bearable!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The package DO NOT protect the metallic side. Design is beautiful and all the features works as intended. It is heavy but the wheels allow you to move it easily. I live in Miami Beach Florida and it do not collect so much water, it take all the moisture out by the exhauster. You don’t have to worry about draining it. The only problem is the package!!!: Very strong on the top and on the bottom. But have no protection on the sides, so when transported, it get severe damage in the sides where the metallic part is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super easy to setup! Bought 3 of these for the office as some areas lack proper ventilation. No issues with any of them and the mobile app / wifi features are great. Setup was really quick and easy, blowing ice cold air! Definitely would recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cool design When I first saw it, my impression was “very cool looking”. I haven’t set it up yet and keep it in my living room but it blends well with my other furniture so it dose t look weird at all.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I have been using this in my sunroom in Florida for almost a year now. I really wanted the WiFi to keep tabs on it, but it would disconnect regularly when I wasn't home (my WiFi signal is strong, unit is 10 feet away from modem). The main problem is the smell. Dirty socks, musty. I removed the decorative grill (note: a difficult task / even harder to reattach) and discovered dust and mold in the cooling fins. After cleaning it out, I noticed that the placement of the reusable filters leaves gaps for dirty air to pass through. This will be a reoccurring issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Features I bought this at the beginning of the summer for my studio. I was looking at many air conditioners on line and came across this one. It's round, sleek, vertical look caught my eye. The article I read had it rated as one of the top 5 air-conditioners that are sold by various manufacturers. After comparing it with the other air-conditioners I decided on this one because of it's efficiency rating and how it runs at lower energy output which is good for the planet but it also looked so cool. I could see that it would fit into tight places because of its shape, which is the situation in my studio so I went out and bought one. I love how the control panel is transparent and only lights up when you are changing settings or just want to look to see the temperature. The remote control which is also round, of course allows you to control the unit from where ever you are in the room. I also love the alarm feature which warns you about various functions. Toward the end of the summer a red light turned on for the filters warning me that they needed cleaning. This helps you manage the unit, saving you the trouble of having something go wrong from a laps of memory or neglecting to maintain the unit, which we all do because of our busy lives. I cleaned the filters as the manual suggested, put them back, held the reset button (for 3 seconds) the red light turned off and I was back in business. This unit is awesome and by the way, is way quieter than other air-conditioners that I have had. I love this thing. Kudos to Frigidaire.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Damaged product Overall I am very discontent with the Frigidaire customer support. I put in a lot of hours of research in what AC unit to get until I decided to purchase this model. The WiFi connection feature was damaged one my unit which makes it almost not operational since most settings and timers can only be configured through the app and the “smart assistant”. I can’t even turn off the ionizer which I really don’t want turned on. Frigidaire wasn’t able to be give me a new unit and now I’m stuck with this barly operational ac unit
