Works basically OK. However there is a major downside. Filter reset seems to be required every 10 or so days, especially when it's more humid in the summer. The filter does not appear to be dirty or clogged. It's quite clear. So, when the filter reset light goes on, the machine turns off and that's that. No more de-humidification in our basement until the filter's removed, returned, then the machine reset. What this means is that one can't go away for more than a few days without having someone -- e.g. a neighbor -- check on the dehumidifier and make sure it's functioning as it should. NOT GOOD. This is the second Frigidaire dehumidifier we've had, and we're happy with it. The last one ran constantly for over 3 years and was still in great shape when we took it to Goodwill after a move, thinking we wouldn't need one any longer (we were wrong). So we got a new one. The only complaints are (1) it could be a little quieter (we have to turn it off when watching TV), and (2) the handle broke off the water container on the first machine the first time we removed it to dump it, which required that we rig a makeshift handle with a rope (hey, it worked). Otherwise, a good product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Simple and effective.
This has been in use in a stored motorhome nearly one month and has performed flawlessly. With the unit running in continuous mode, it nearly filled the reservoir every day for more than a week as it drew stale, moist air out. I didn't check it one day and the next day the unit was full and the auto-off feature shut it down just as designed. Being in the humid Gulf Coast region, I leave the unit on 24/7 and set at 50% and it needs emptying every 3-4 days. It's amazing the difference it has made. Cabinet doors that were swollen and stuck now open and close with ease. Drawers slide without binging. This unit is worth every penny!

Just what I needed
Once the weather turned cooler here in the northwest, an amazing amount of condensation would pool up on my windows, dripping down to the windowsill, leading to some mold and decay. From what I understand, much of this is because the windows have aluminum siding and they are not double paned (my neighbor said the same thing would happen to him, but no longer after he got vinyl windows). I did not have the cash to change my windows, so I got this instead. It works great...no more concendsation on the windows each morning! Perceived loudness is a relative factor, of course, but it is not too noisy for me. I am really pleased with it.

Just what I was looking for!
I`ve been a home owner for just under 2 years now. When we first moved in,we noticed that the basement was a bit musty. I thought it was just from the house being closed up while on the market.
Well,I was wrong!
Finally this spring I started to research dehumidifiers and settled on this model. It was just the right size for our basement and had the option to use a hose for draining the machine rather than empty a container. It`s a nice feature to have so you`re not dumping water all of the time.
It only took a day and a half to be rid of the musty smell! And as a bonus, using a dehumidifier makes your cellar less inviting to spiders and other creepy crawlies!

This is the th ird time I was made to change my re view. Great features like a timer and removable and cleanable air filter. It's not too loud if when in another room. The main issues are after 2 years of use the control panel started to malfunction and it got recalld. It started with the up and down buttons not working, then later the timer button, and finally the power button. It's not always consistent and at one point for a few weeks the control panel started to make sounds like the buttons were being pressed while the machine was on, but they weren’t. Luckily that finally stopped happening after 3-4 weeks. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Does the Job
Bought this one to replace a 10 year old model that had finally dies. I use it for my whole house as it's located near a intake vent. I live in FL and it has kept the whole house (2,000 sq ft) between 51 - 55% humidity based on my external monitor. I do have to set the dehumidifier at 60 to keep it in that 50+% range. I do suggest having an external gauge to determine the settings. The tank needs to be emptied once every two days right now (NOV). I like the warning to clean the filter. My only complaint is the handle. I would not recommend using it when the tank is full. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Keeps the Basement Dry
Bought the 50 pint version to replace a similar unit (different brand) that failed after 12 years. After installation, humidity in my 1000 Sq Ft basement dropped from 80% to 50% within a couple of days, and has kept it at that level ever since.
I connected a hose from the dehumidifier directly to a drain so I don't need to empty the bucket (highly recommended).
Minor issues: 1) Fan runs longer than it needs to after the compressor stops, but it does eventually shut off.
2) The unit's humidistat consistently reads about 10% higher than the actual level measured by two other humidistats that I use to check it against. To maintain 50% humidity, I set the unit to read 60%
