Why does my oven smoke when I’m using the Air Fry Tray?

Air Fry circulates superheated air inside the oven, and the Air Fry Tray allows that air to cook the food all over, even on the bottom. For Air Fry to deliver crunchy texture, a little oil needs to be on the food. That oil cooks fast to create the crunch we love! Convenience foods that are made to be crispy from the oven may have more oil on them than homemade foods. Some foods, like homemade chicken wings, are going to drip while they cook. A little smoke is normal, but we have some tips to help:

  • When using the Air Fry Tray, place a baking sheet on the oven rack one or two positions below the Air Fry Tray. This keeps drips and crumbs from landing on the oven bottom, where they will burn and create smoke. Place some foil-lined parchment paper on the baking sheet. Parchment paper traps oil and keeps it from smoking.
  • When making homemade food, use cooking oils that can stand up to a high temperature. For example, olive oil and some vegetable oils will smoke at lower temps than avocado, grapeseed, and peanut oils. Cooking sprays made from these oils are available at the grocery store.
  • Remember to keep foil, parchment paper, and bakeware off the bottom of the oven! The oven bottom needs to stay clear so air can circulate.

How do I insert and remove my racks from my Frigidaire range?

The type of racks in your range may vary by model. Based on your appliance, your Owner’s Manual provides a description of various types of racks. Most racks can simply be removed by pulling the oven rack straight out until it reaches the stop position. Tilt up the front of the oven rack to slide past the stop position and pull the rack out of the oven cavity. To insert the rack, rest the oven rack evenly between a left and right front guide along the oven walls so that the oven rack rests level. Tilt front of the rack upward and slide rack in past the stop position. Then bring the rack to a level position and slide the rack completely inside the oven.

To keep your oven racks gliding smoothly when you’re removing or inserting them, we recommend applying cooking oil along their outer edges.

If your oven is equipped with the Effortless Oven Rack system, you can refer to your Owner’s Manual for specific instructions. The Effortless Oven Rack system will automatically partially extend the oven rack from the interior oven glides to assist in easier access to your food items. This feature works whenever the oven door is opened or closed. IMPORTANT: Only the Effortless Oven Rack system should be used in the oven rack position 2. Placing any other rack in the oven rack position 2 will prevent the oven door from fully closing and may damage the oven door, oven cavity or the door connector brackets.

How do I clean my Frigidaire range?

Your Owner’s Manual provides helpful tips regarding care and cleaning for your range to include the exterior and interior components such as knobs, stainless steel, racks, door and cooktop, etc. You can also purchase cleaners directly. If your appliance has Smudge Proof Stainless Steel, use a soft cloth, clean with a mild dish detergent and water or a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Rinse with clean water, dry with a soft clean cloth. Do not use appliance cleaner, stainless steel cleaner or cleaner containing abrasives, chlorides, chlorine or ammonia. These cleaners may damage the finish.

How do I set my oven or range to self-clean?

To self-clean your oven, follow these simple steps:

  1. Remove the oven racks.
  2. Set your oven control to clean.
  3. Select a cleaning time or choose a cleaning level: light, medium, or heavy soiled. For typical cleaning needs, we recommend that you select a cleaning time of three hours or choose the medium soiled setting.
  4. Select Start. (To set a delayed start, see your use and care manual.)

Note: For safety reasons, the oven door will remain locked until the oven cools down. When it is sufficiently cool, the door will automatically unlock.

What does the Lock feature do and how can I activate it?

Your appliance may be equipped with the ability to Lock the oven door and display controls. To set the oven Lock feature (instructions may vary by model – check your Owner’s Manual for more details):

Press OFF and hold for 6 seconds. Lock will appear in the display, the door locked indicator light will flash, and the door lock will begin to close. Allow about 15 seconds for the oven door to lock. Once the oven is locked, the current time of day will appear in the display.

To cancel the oven Lock feature, press Off and hold for 6 seconds. The control will unlock the oven door and resume normal operations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stove makes me wish I were young. If I were young I would be able to have this stove for so many more years. Don't get me wrong. This stove is not perfect. If perfect were necessary I would have spent quite a bit more than I did. This stove and cooktop are very adequate and a good place to start. I am quite happy with the heat sensor controls. Just put your finger on them to activate them. No pressing necessary. The oven is lovely and the stovetop is very friendly. If I were making my perfect oven I would make each burner so that any size pan would be at home on it. There is only one burner that is home to a small pan and it is in the back. Not sure why each burner can't adapt to any size pan. The drawer is dreadfully flimsy and don't try to put anything in it except perhaps cookie sheets. That was a disappointment as I haven't had an oven drawer for several years and was really looking forward to having one again. The other disappointment is that there are no wings on the cooktop to help it blend with the countertop without having a gap between the cabinet and the stovetop. All the ones that are for sale are silly and unusable and terribly expensive. The stovetop we removed to insert this one had an overlap for the cabinet top and I will miss that greatly. I still give the cooktop/range a 5 star rating as I realize that not everyone’s disappointments will be the same and the oven/cooktop work great. My complaints are personal and cosmetic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from so many things I love but issues with the air fry I have had my range for almost a month. I love the cooktop induction. It's amazing. I bought new cookware and it all works together really well. The touch controls can be hard to turn on for the cooktop. We've had many issues with the oven. We bought it because we love fried food but wanted to be able to have it be healthier than oil frying. There are very few instructions for the air fry. We've air fried chicken wings several times and it always smokes up the house. I purchased the fry basket. I put a large pan under the basket and it still smokes and makes a huge mess of the oven. I've had to clean the oven 3 times. Thats more than I cleaned my old oven of 10 years. Ive read and tried all the different suggestions but it still smokes and fills the house. The food taste awesome but I can't stand the mess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Induction and air fry, what a combination! There is a little bit of learning curve for induction but loving how accurate it maintains temps and heats up so fast! You can have your ramen noodles in no time . Still getting the hang of air fry settings but loving air fried chicken - hate when my baked chicken is soggy! This totally resolved that. Overall happy customer however the buttons are a bit sensitive so when you brush against them they go beep beep but its more just being aware of how close you are to the appliance than anything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great addition to our kitchen! When we found out that the new Frigidaire Gallery Induction range would include an air fryer in the oven and we couldn't wait to upgrade. We have an older model of the induction range and love it so I knew this would definitely be our next upgrade. I am so glad we did because it is totally worth it! We have kids in the house who are learning to cook and the induction cooktop is such a breeze for them to use and we don't have to worry as much about them getting burned. We have used the air fry to cook frozen tater tots, fresh chicken wings, and homemade sweet potato fries. All of them turned out delicious and perfectly crisp. I have also made several batches of beef jerky using the convection oven setting. So easy and so much better than store bought. Overall, we definitely recommend this range!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Modern technology This range was purchased a few weeks ago and have tried out most of the features, especially the Air Fry. Very impressed with the range in general. One item is the "P" power setting for the burners which gives a power boost in order to heat the pan and contents faster to minimize the initial heating up time.
