Love induction cooking!

The touch controls work great and cooking with induction is a great experience. The heat control is instant. Bringing pots to temp is super quick.

Questions & Reviews

What are the benefits of Induction?

Induction cooking directly heats the pan; heating will only begin when cookware is properly placed on the cooking zones. Fast and efficient - Induction cooking zones heat faster and use less energy. Induction power levels are quick to boil and they are efficient when simmering.

A cooler cooktop - A unique feature of the induction cooking zones is, whether it is turned on or off, the cooking zones remain cooler than radiant type elements. Virtually no wasted heat is produced since the heat begins with the presence of cookware.

Easy cleanups - The cooler cooking zones make cleanup easier. Spills resist sticking or burning so they wipe up easily.

Magnetic detector - The cooking zone has a sensor that automatically detects whether cookware is magnetic. This will reduce accidental “turn-ons.”

Pan size detection - The pan size recognition sensor automatically detects and adapts the induction cooking zones to the pan sizes in use for consistent, more even cooking.

More responsive - Induction cooking zones are more responsive than their electric or gas counterparts because only the pan heats. This type of cooking heats easier and will be just as responsive when reducing to a simmer.

What type of cookware do I use with Induction?

For the best possible surface cooking results, it is recommended to only use high quality heavy gauge cookware on the induction cooking zones. Be sure to follow all the manufacturer’s recommendations when using cookware made for induction cooking. To check if the cookware base material is suitable, use a magnet to test. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of the cookware, the material type is correct. The most common induction cookware types available are:

Stainless steel - Generally excellent for induction cooking plus it is durable, easy to clean and resists staining. However, it is important to note that not all stainless steel is magnetic.
Cast iron - Good for induction cooking. Cooks evenly. Do not slide cast iron cookware on cooktop. Cast iron cookware with a rough surface will scratch ceramic cooktop.
Porcelain-enamel coated metals - Heating characteristics will vary depending on quality of base material. Porcelain-enamel coating must be smooth to avoid scratching the ceramic cooktop.

Why does my Induction cooktop make noises when I’m cooking?

Some cookware can hum or buzz when used in induction cooking. The surface controls click as they work to create even cooking temps. Temp changes during preheat and cool-down can make parts of the cooktop expand and contract. Different fans run to cool down different parts of the cooktop, even when it’s off. These sounds are normal.

Can I 'mute' the audible tones on my appliance?

The option to silent audible tones may not be applicable on all models so you want to check your Owner’s Manual. For applicable models - When selecting a function on your display, an audible tone is heard each time a key is pressed. If you desire, the display can be programmed for silent operation. To set the controls for silent operation:

Press and hold Start Time for 6 seconds. The display will beep once and then you can release the key.
The controls are now set for silent operation.
To return your audible tones to normal operation:
Press and hold Start Time again for 6 seconds until the display beeps once and then you release the key.
The controls are now set for audible operation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice upgrade Nice to have the induction. Quicker heat and easy to clean up

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing cooking surface! This is my second induction cooktop from Frigidaire, and I love it even more as it has 5 burners, all of which are self-sizing. This is the only way to cook especially if there are children around who can touch the surface and not get burned! Cooking is fast, easy to clean up and no heavy grates to move as on gas burners. I would never cook on anything else again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We LOVE this cooktop!!!! It was time to say goodbye to our tired, old cooktop, so we went looking online. Our was a traditional coil burner unit and we knew nothing about the new technology in cooktops. In reading the reviews, it looked like a lot of people were happy about this particular cooktop, so we decided to give it a try. It was one of the least expensive cooktops on the market, some costing more than 4 times as much. I installed the unit myself, and it was very straightforward and a simple install. We found out that only one of our small pans would work, so had to buy all new pans to cook with, but for the convenience of this cooktop, we would do it all over again. The controls are laid out well. There is never any confusion as to which control goes to which element. The controls are very responsive. We love the way the cooktop stays so cool. Our kitchen is going to be so much easier to keep cool this summer. The top is very easy to keep clean because food does not get baked onto the surface. When you lift a pan from the surface, that element immediately shuts off until the pan is set back down, resuming cooking. There are never any worries about a cup towel lying on the surface. The only thing that can activate an element is a metal object that a magnet can cling too. It is not often that a review does not contain at least one complaint, or something that could have been engineered slightly better, but we cannot think of anything that could be better about this unit - Go Frigidaire!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy scratch resistant surface! I regularly cook and shake and scuff my pans around, this top is holding up amazingly well, solid. Took some time to get used to the settings cooking with induction, would never go back now, so fast to heat and cook, its great and saves time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I Hoped For I replaced an old, hard to clean gas cooktop with this product after studying and researching of all cooktop types, brands and models and it is everything I hoped for. My new cooktop is simple to operate. The touch and slide controls work great. Its cooking performance is superb. All of the cooking areas are powerful enough to bring a pot with an inch of water to boil in 30 to 45 seconds. The 10 power levels are more than enough to finely control the cooking temperature. The response time between any power change and the cookware temperature is as short as possible, depending only on the mass of the cookware and its contents. Installation was a snap with good directions and a clever design that automatically centered the cooktop in the cutout. The installed cooktop is beautiful in a minimalist way. From more than a few feet away the markings on the surface aren't visible so the cooktop appears as a thin black slab hugging the countertop. I've learned to use lower power setting for most cooking - the higher settings are only to bring a large pot of liquid to boil. After an initial application of the included cooktop conditioner, there is no way this cooktop could be easier to clean. A quick spray and wipe down with a dishcloth immediately after cooking is all it takes. I did have to replace all of my aluminum cookware with induction-ready pots and pans, but this was an opportunity to clear out clutter and get some much better equipment. I chose a very nice set from Oxo that work great and were reasonably priced. My existing cast iron cookware works great with the cooktop, too. Of course, it will take time to determine how reliable it is, but Frigidaire's extending warranty is reasonably priced and was easy to order online.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow I love this cook top. The power boil feature saves time and the lock and auto shutoff are a great addition. Never had induction before and did not know what I was missing. Great addition to the kitchen

Before You Buy

Measure your space

Measure the width, depth & height of opening. For clean access the door should be able to open 90 degrees or more.

Haul-away

Many retailers have haul-away programs if they deliver your new cooktop. Check to see what retailers offer and have a plan when you’ve selected a new cooktop.

Check your doorways

Check the doorways to ensure your cooktop can easily get into your home. Measure from the stops on each side since those are the closest contact points.
