Questions & Reviews

Medium Room 50 Pint Capacity Dehumidifier is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 2190.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Average rating Works basically OK. However there is a major downside. Filter reset seems to be required every 10 or so days, especially when it's more humid in the summer. The filter does not appear to be dirty or clogged. It's quite clear. So, when the filter reset light goes on, the machine turns off and that's that. No more de-humidification in our basement until the filter's removed, returned, then the machine reset. What this means is that one can't go away for more than a few days without having someone -- e.g. a neighbor -- check on the dehumidifier and make sure it's functioning as it should. NOT GOOD. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well This is the second Frigidaire dehumidifier we've had, and we're happy with it. The last one ran constantly for over 3 years and was still in great shape when we took it to Goodwill after a move, thinking we wouldn't need one any longer (we were wrong). So we got a new one. The only complaints are (1) it could be a little quieter (we have to turn it off when watching TV), and (2) the handle broke off the water container on the first machine the first time we removed it to dump it, which required that we rig a makeshift handle with a rope (hey, it worked). Otherwise, a good product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and effective. This has been in use in a stored motorhome nearly one month and has performed flawlessly. With the unit running in continuous mode, it nearly filled the reservoir every day for more than a week as it drew stale, moist air out. I didn't check it one day and the next day the unit was full and the auto-off feature shut it down just as designed. Being in the humid Gulf Coast region, I leave the unit on 24/7 and set at 50% and it needs emptying every 3-4 days. It's amazing the difference it has made. Cabinet doors that were swollen and stuck now open and close with ease. Drawers slide without binging. This unit is worth every penny!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from "EXPECTED MORE" I purchased this Dehumidifier because of the reviews. Unfortunately it has not held up to my expectations. I had purchased this unit for the basement in my home, I turned on unit after reading all Instructions and to my surprise it is only pulling about a Quart of water out of the ambient air and surrounding areas of my basement. I know there is more moisture down there as I have a very nice ACCURATE Monitoring device. It is built nicely & runs relatively quiet, But I do not believe it is doing it's job of pulling excess moisture as it should. Hence, that is why the 3 stars. Maybe I got a defective unit ?? I would recommend to someone, with caution!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what I needed Once the weather turned cooler here in the northwest, an amazing amount of condensation would pool up on my windows, dripping down to the windowsill, leading to some mold and decay. From what I understand, much of this is because the windows have aluminum siding and they are not double paned (my neighbor said the same thing would happen to him, but no longer after he got vinyl windows). I did not have the cash to change my windows, so I got this instead. It works great...no more concendsation on the windows each morning! Perceived loudness is a relative factor, of course, but it is not too noisy for me. I am really pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for! I`ve been a home owner for just under 2 years now. When we first moved in,we noticed that the basement was a bit musty. I thought it was just from the house being closed up while on the market. Well,I was wrong! Finally this spring I started to research dehumidifiers and settled on this model. It was just the right size for our basement and had the option to use a hose for draining the machine rather than empty a container. It`s a nice feature to have so you`re not dumping water all of the time. It only took a day and a half to be rid of the musty smell! And as a bonus, using a dehumidifier makes your cellar less inviting to spiders and other creepy crawlies!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from recalld This is the th ird time I was made to change my re view. Great features like a timer and removable and cleanable air filter. It's not too loud if when in another room. The main issues are after 2 years of use the control panel started to malfunction and it got recalld. It started with the up and down buttons not working, then later the timer button, and finally the power button. It's not always consistent and at one point for a few weeks the control panel started to make sounds like the buttons were being pressed while the machine was on, but they weren’t. Luckily that finally stopped happening after 3-4 weeks. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for damp basement! Bought this about two months ago for our unfinished, damp basement which had a previous mold problem we’re hoping to prevent from happening again. Despite it being winter, the humidifier has taken quite a bit of water out of the air and has maintained the % humidity we selected, only turning on when the basement goes above that percentage (and, thus, is not wasting extra energy). So far, so good! The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that I’ve yet to see how it does in the warmer, more humid summer months and the basin does not easily remove/replace when you need to empty the water, it takes a little effort.
