HORRIBLE to install; works wellFor the difficulty in installing this air-conditioner, I don’t know if I can truly recommend it. There has got to be other air-conditioners out there that work just as well that aren’t insanely illogical and time consuming to install! I consider myself to be very handy, and my husband is an engineer, and it took the two of us over three hours to get this thing put together and installed! It was ridiculous! That being said, we have been using it regularly for about a month now and have had no issues. We have a large Victorian home w very tall ceilings and this weeks several rooms cool. The Terminator from
So far, so goodNice looking unit. Good feature set. Average noise level for a unit this size. The owners manual is very good, but the installation instructions were not. Figuring out which screw or bolt to use where was next to impossible. The supports were unusable in my application.(I had to use the existing adjustable support arms from the unit I was replacing, which were a far better design anyway). The fact that a unit this size uses a 110v outlet was a big plus. The remote was more handy than I thought it would be. The true measure for me is longevity. Time will tell. Really love this new Air ConditionerVents are much more adjustable, many more features then the old one, remote control is awesome. Also like the extra foam to help with the gaps around the unit, love the look of the panels that hide the accordian spacers at the sides look so much nicer.
Only two things that we have issue with, the installation was much harder to do then the old one, having to remove the cover was not easy for two folks in their 60's and the directions were not very clear on what needed to be done as it was for more then one model. The other is that when you turn it on it defaults to econo mode, wish it turned on to the last setting we used. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Works well, energy efficientBought this to cool our living and dining rooms, and the total square footage is at the upper limits of this unit's rating. It works very well, cools both rooms without any struggle, and our electric bill has not jumped as much as we expected. Installation was not difficult, with another person helping. Works great once installed...I just bought this unit as my other portable unit broke. Now that it is installed it's working great to cool my small house, however it shouldn't take an electrical engineer and a construction company owner two hours to install it because the instructions and the parts provided were so terrible. They ended up having to make it up on their own to get it done in an hour. The instructions kept calling pieces screws when in fact they are bolts. Please change the instruction booklet!

Works as intendedThis is my first brand new AC purchase. So far, it has operated as it should. The room does get nice and cool or cold, depending on temperature. Before I purchased this Frigidaire AC, I read the reviews about the econ setting not working as it should. When I got the AC, I saw what those reviewers were talking about; but I soon figured out how the econ setting really works.
To all current customers and future customers of this AC, I will say, the econ setting is not faulty and works as intended. The econ setting works with the remote. What you have to do is turn on the AC and press start on the remote sensing option on the remote, so the AC can recognize the remote. After you enabled remote sensing, you should see the remote sensing option on the AC blink green. That means the remote is in sync with the AC, and whatever temp it shows on the remote, the AC will stay on until it reaches the temp you have set on the AC.
For instance, if the temp on the remote says 80 degrees, and the temp is set to 72 on the AC, the AC will stay on until the room reaches 72. Once the remote says 72, the AC will turn off. The AC will come on again when the temp on the remote reaches 74-75 degrees. The AC will usually come back on when the temp goes 2-3 degrees above the set temp on the AC.
The caveat to this is, you have to start the remote sensing option every time you turn on the AC. Otherwise, the econ setting will not work. With econ setting enabled, the AC will not remember to keep the remote sensing option enabled after you have turned the AC on again. The remote sensing option will only stay on when the AC is on, until you press stop remote sensing on the remote or turn the AC off.
When you have the AC set to econ setting and remote sensing is not enabled, the AC will never get to the set temp and turn off, because it does not know how warm the room is by the remote. So, the remote sensing option has to be enabled each time for the econ setting to work properly. Otherwise, you will think the econ setting isn't working properly. That's the way it is by design. Yes, it would be nice if Frigidaire did have the remote sensing option remain enabled each time you turn on the AC as long as the econ setting is enabled.

Great for the first yearIt worked amazing the first summer we had it and for about a month this year. Now the compressor won't kick on, it's blowing hot air, and trying to get service under the warranty is nearly impossible. I bought in part for Frigidaire's reputation for standing behing its products. Tremendously disappointed.

Cools wellAce cools well as long as you keep it off of energy saver. This is my 2nd unit, both units thermostats are off by 4-7 degrees. So I have to keep it at 66 if I want it to cycle compressor off at 70-71. Wish there was a fix for this. All and all I'm happy with its cooling capability. Just wish the energy saver would work better- just takes to long to start again and that means the whole cooling process begins again. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
