Questions & Reviews

6,000 BTU Window-Mounted Room Air Conditioner is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 315.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap and effective Bought a second one of these FFRE0633S1 window-mount A/C units after using the exact same model for about a year in an outdoor dog house we built to keep our pups cool. Both units are working excellent, I use them primarily in the summer her in Norcal where it's between 80 and 115 each day, and they work perfectly for a single room, such as a bedroom where we have one installed. During the winter I just turn them off and I have had no problems with turning them back on months later. They use practically no electricity, I don't even notice their use on my monthly bill. Remote is a plus. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from the worst Bought two of these for a one bedroom new york apartment.... its super loud, and with all that noise , not much, cool air coming out. its still spring in new york, so it hasn't gotten really hot. I had both AC units on all day today , at the lowest setting tempeture, and the room tempeture is still 74F. energy saving system doesn't work at all,the unit shut off when its set , lets say to 66F, but room tempeture never dropped lower that 74..... our previous units that were 5000 BTU, had more cooling power that this!!!!!! very disappointed save your self she time and go with something different....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my large bedroom and extra hot days I bought this because I am from San Francisco, and am not used to humidity or excessive heat at all. I needed something for my bedroom that would help me sleep at night, and also keep me cool during the day. For the price, its perfect! It makes some noise, but I sleep with it on every night and honestly don't notice it. It cools down my 10ft. x 10ft. bedroom down very quickly, and is great at keeping it cool. I love having the remote because if I wake up in the middle of the night having set it too cool, or not cool enough, I can adjust it without getting out of bed! This is my first air conditioner, and I am so genuinely happy with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cools well, the timer function could be improved The unit cools well as expected. It comes with extra insulating panels which you don't have to use though they are supposed to help keep more of the outside air out of the room. The one improvement that doesn't affect performance is the timer feature - it works well and is useful, but could be easier. In the summer it's hot every day so having the timer function set to come on automatically at a given time, or even just having the timer set to the last length of time when you push it would make it more useful instead of having to increase the time from the default every day. Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like it.... Needed to replace the 6,000 BTU window a/c unit we'd had for over 5 years. We purchased the Frigidaire because it met our needs, and was an almost an exact match to the old one, including installation. It was priced in line with what we anticipated. So far it's met or exceeded performance expectations. I like the "clean air" feature that provides ionization for additional dust and pollen removal. The air flow is easy to direct with almost infinitely variable directional control. The air volume moved meets or exceeds expectations, noise level is less than expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Energy Saving Window Unit I bought this unit right as the summer heat hit and I don't know where I'd be without it. I've gone two summers in NYC without air, and his year I finally bucked up and bought a unit. I chose Frigidaire because it's a name I trust, and this unit is no exception. It cools the room very quickly and isn't loud as far as air conditioners go. It also has a great Econ feature that keeps the set temperature without running the unit constantly. I like that it has the added filters too for dust and allergens. My only complaint is it got a little banged up in shipping, but it's very easy to install. Overall, very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good Bought this for the bedroom of an apartment to sleep with at night. The Econ setting is good that’s all I leave it on and it will stop when it feels the air is what you set. It makes some noise but doesn’t wake me up. Nice that it has the remote control but I haven’t used that yet. It does the job well, no complaints. The cord was just too short for the outlet which was annoying but just got a heavy duty extension cord and it’s fine, I asked an electrician and he said the extension cord for AC’s is ok to use as long as you don’t plug in anything else. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall Preformance I have two 18,500 BTU and one 11,000 BTU units that are also heating. I keep them the same because I like all the features such Energy Efficient Mode, on & off timers, digital thermostat, etc. and all my control panels are similar. In the Energy Efficient Mode the larger the unit, the better it works. None of them work as well in that mode as the normal cooling! This one is the least helpful, but I've got it in a small kitchen that is only about 70 sq. feet. I'm very happy with all 4 that I own. It's just that bigger is better, but cost more and may not be worth it in certain area. Just remember, their 'ain't no Santa Clause"! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
