CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 27, 2014 – When it comes to savings, research shows a Frigidaire Upright or Chest Freezer that costs $750 or less can pay for itself in less than one year, saving families valuable time and money (approximately $88 a month). In looking at consumer’s attitudes and behaviors around food storage, Frigidaire found that approximately 60 percent of consumers said they don’t have enough storage capacity in their refrigerator’s freezer2 and are making numerous trips to the grocery store each week. According to the Frigidaire study, which focused on the shopping habits of chest and upright freezer owners, the average consumer who own a secondary freezer makes 1 ½ less trips each month to the grocery store and saves an average of 60 hours per year by making fewer trips to the grocery store. Overall, those who own a secondary freezer say it allows them to stock up on family favorite foods, and the extra storage space lets them take advantage of sales and buying in bulk.
