To Much Heat Loss In Oven
I have never owned or had a oven that was not enclosed so the heat could stay inside the oven and be energy efficient. That was until now. Bought this Range/Oven as a replacement on the spur of the moment and saw something I have never seen before. The Left rear burner, right in the center has about a 1 1/4" opening that goes right down to the oven. It's an open pipe that lets the heat flow right out of the oven and into the kitchen when in use. It states in the manual that this is for better baking as air flow moves more, but it's letting the heat out of the oven. You may as well have the door cracked. I'll never understand why a oven has a way for the heat to leave and enter the room while baking. This may be great on cold wintery months, but as far as these 90 degree days, why would I want more heat to enter my apartment when cooking. It states not to plug this hole. but if Frigidaire has a plug available, I'd like to have one. I'll always check from now on for open holes in a range going down to the oven. I just never thought that I would never see a model like this in the stores. Especially with everyone looking for ways to cut down on power consumption. This hole has to make the oven elements kick in more to make up for the lost heat leaving through the burner hole. I'm a electrician and have been doing wiring for the last 36 years, wired many things in that time, and have never seen a range like this one. Everyone I have talked to said they would not want one when I explained about the heat loss through the venting burner hole. The thing of it is, you would not even notice the hole until you get it home and turn on the oven light and see it shining through the left rear burner. I kept the range, but will never use the oven.
