Frigidaire Professional 28 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator

DO NOT BUY!

This purchase was a huge disappointment. I absolutely loved the french door style, the entire layout, etc. so I decided to purchase. However, the functionality is defunct. The ice maker does not work. I have had a repair man out to my house four times over the past six months and the problem is still not fixed. The ice maker will either not make ice or run so loudly that the noise fills the entire house. I understand the ice maker is not in the freezer, but this model is clearly not designed properly. Very disappointed with Frigidaire.

5 months new...some issues but mostly good

Love the fact that the freezer is on bottom, with plenty of space. Fridge cleans up nice. However, have had many days where the icemaker stops making ice, we take the filter out and shake it up and put it back in and then it seems to work. but, there's no indication there's anything wrong with the filters so what gives? Also, the freezer appeared to be open a crack and everything defrosted one night yet there was no alarm. I don't like the way the shelves are- the top right one, under the ice box, is not really useful - no place for a milk jub and a couple of bottles of soda. And, not sure what the thing in the top right of the door is for? However, all in all it's ok but very expensive for something that I'm not loving and it's brand new.

The only problem I have had is the Ice maker. Had the repair man out here 4 times and will work untill it fills up and stops making ice. Service men can't seem to fix. Still hopeing

Nice but...

We like the space and layout. We love the Stainless finish which is much more resistant to finger prints than any other manufacturer. Cooling system seems fine and possibly a very good design. Problems: We bought new but after install we discovered the right door hinge was bowed - easy warranty replacement but bending that hinge would have taken a lot of force - it should be better protected in transit. Don't like the wasteful and eco-unfriendly PCV water filter - Will order a bypass but that should have come with the fridge (or at least a sign for how to order should have been placed over the filter). We have the new and improved ice maker but we did have one instance where ice was lumping together and would not move down the dispenser screw (we have only had the fridge for 30 days - maybe door was ajar and some ice partly melted but I would have expected an alarm). Showroom models all have a magnet on the top freezer tray that pulls the top tray along when the freezer door is open - nice feature but does not appear to be on our new, high end, expensive, "pro-line" fridge... Water dispenser tube is forward of ice dispenser and way in front of the activating lever - this is fine unless you have a small mouth glass. If you are unprepared and push the glass against the lever, you water your hand. Not terrible and you can compensate by placing your fingers between the glass and lever but it is a learning experience... Lots of opportunity for splashes of water going on the tray below the water and ice dispenser - other fridges we have owned have a grate and tray system so any splash simply evaporates - seems like a trivial design consideration. Over all, we would consider buying this model again for the type of stainless steel, the interior space and the cooling mechanism and we hope the ice dispenser problem was a fluke but we are disappointed at all of the human engineering misses which could have been easily avoided.

Refrigerator works great

I'll try to make this as short as I can. 10 month's ago we purchased 6 new Appliances from Frigidare They are all great except the fridge. The fridge actually works great except for the ice maker. We have had 4 refrigerator's in 10 month's #1-was not all put together inside and shelves we're bent .#2 was shipped and when we received it, it was dented. #3 is here now and we've been fighting the ice-maker.It freezes up, makes weird noises and runs water all over the shelves in the fridge. #4 was delivered with a big dent in the side,It had to be from manufacturing. It was fine until it was unpacked. #5 can't be delivered from factory for 3-weeks. All other appliances are wonderful but this is getting a little old. All the people we have contacted have been very nice to us.

Nice Frig

I've had this refrigerator for 9 months and have not had any major issues. Twice the ice maker has stopped working but we may have left the door open a crack which casued it to ice over. Turn it off then on & it started working again. I wish it had a "Door Open" alarm. The bottom drawer for lunchmeats and such is a bit of a pain as you have to open both doors to open the drawer. Love the beverage can dispenser.

Overall I am please with the refrigeratoe, however the ice maker freezes up below the cube tray and has to be manually defrosted once per month

Overall I like it

Overall I love the refrigerator. I love the spaciousness, the lighting, but I am disappointed in the ice maker. I never had an ice maker before and was really looking forward to it and the in door dispenser for ice and water. The ice maker tends to want to freeze up frequently (I suspect it is because it has been cold out so we haven't been using the ice fast enough). The problem is, when you remove the drawer to get ice out and clean it, it is extremely difficult to put back in. I mean sometimes an hour or more to get it to go. The serviceman is great and he showed me how to fool the fridge into thinking the door is closed and use the ice dispenser to help line things up, but last time even that didnt' work. I was over an hour messing with it. When it freezes up it leaks water out the dispenser. It also somehow gets jammed and then only dispenses crushed ice. I like crushed ice but not for everything. I then have to make regular cube trays in the freezer. Thank goodness I kept my old ice cube trays. All in all, this has been the only disappointment in the fridge. If it were not for that I would give it a 6 star rating. I do love my serviceman though...he is wonderful, but I hate to have to call again about the ice maker!

Very beautiful fridge and as you open both doors then you realize that it has big roomy shelves.

Shiny & New

Great looking appliance, nice easy to use touch features. Plenty of room. No need for the soda can dispenser, could have used that space for more storage. Dont like that you have to open both doors to get to the large center drawer, they could have made it into two seperate compartments. The left side door does not stay open, but that is due to the weight. All minor problems I can live with...

French Door Refrigerator

In general, I like the french Door Refrigerator with the ice/water in the door. The one thing I would change is how the far out the full drawer comes out - it would be nice if it came out a few inches more to allow easier access to the back of the drawer (I know you can put it out farther but it would be better if it was part of the drawer opening).
