Hope it lasts like the Kelvinator we had!
We purchased the Frigidaire from Lowes when we decided to stop manually defrosting our 40+ year-old Kelvinator!!! The slide-out trays are a bit cumbersome and you have to watch that they don't fall off the slide-rails. I've noticed ice crystals forming on the back wall of the freezer, don't know why as it is supposed to be frost-free. It does keep the items well frozen. The digital display always indicates 0 degrees so I'm hoping that is true! I sure hope it saves on our electric bill compared to the old Kelvinator!!!

      Here's my problem...
I just bought my latest Frigidaire, because its 11 year old sibling died with a full load of food -- Luckily, Lowe's took care of me in less than 24 hours. I purchased another one because I have/had faith in them. Sounds contradictory, but read on... THE PROS: Since it has a light inside, I can retire the flashlight; like the pull out baskets, especially useful for bread and vegi packs; alarms for temp. & door ajar great!. THE CONS: A 36% increase, in price, from 11 years ago; Though this model is "Energy Star Rated", I am going to save a HUGE $4.00 extra per year (Yes, I saved the Energy Guide tags!), compared to its retired sibling; would have liked four shelves, including an adjustable one, instead of three; digitial nice, but not practicle, since we all know how computers like to fail, when you least expect it; plastic lock key - no (I still have my metal one, so I put the plastic one in the manual, for "Just in Case).

After 27 years of use and manual defrosting, we paid a lower price with store discount, energy-star rebate, and recycling rebate, and get more cubic feet, reduced monthly energy costs, and frost-free operation, with more practical shelves and door storage.

      Just Keeps Working!
This freezer is located in our unheated garage, and no matter what the outside temperature, anywhere from -10 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, it keeps the food at a perfect 0 degrees. Ours has a digital readout of the temperature inside, and an alarm should a child not close the door after getting his popsicle! It's an Energy Star, so hasn't made much of a dent in our electric bills. We're very happy we purchased this model.

      Good Freezer
Retired our old chest type freezer after 25 years. Decided to get a standup freezer as a replacement to make it easier to access product in freezer. Have been very happy with the unit so far. The only problem that I can see is that ice crystals are forming on the food product inside the storage containers. Is there any solution to this or is it something you have to live with from a frost free freezer. We never had that problem with the old chest type freezer. Other than that I would definately recommend this freezer to anyone.

I recently purchased this freezer and am very pleased with it. It is quiet and does not run a lot. The interior is bright and contents are easily accessed. It quickly attained the appropriate temperature and maintains it well.

We retired our first Frigidaire Freezer after 30 years of service and bought our new Frigidaire in the Summer of 2010. I hope the second lasts another 30 years.

      Good Purchase
I'm really glad I bought this freezer. It sits in the garage and accepts the seasonal overflow that is too cumbersome for the freezer part of the unit in the kitchen. I'm really happy I invested the money in making my life easier.
