Frigidaire Professional 24" Built-In Dishwasher

Profesional my foot!

This is one of the most disappointing dishwashers ever made. The top rack doesn't pull out smoothly and needs to be yanked out before loading. Anything large in the bottom left area of the bottom rack obstructs the opening of the detergent lid. The exposed heating coil is the biggest irritation because any light plastic item will invariably fall to the bottom and melt on the coil. Most of the top brands don't manufacture their dishwashers this way anymore. We got our dishwasher as part of an appliance package deal with our home builder. Some of the other Professional series appliance are just as crummy too. Had I seen the quality of these items beforehand, I would not have agreed to buy them.

It is what it is

First of all, one has to recognize that in the universe of all dishwashers this is a mid-price unit, Typical for Frigidaire you get a lot of features for your money, I own other Frigidaire Professional line appliances and the foregoing holds true for them all. It would not be fair to compare this unit to a unit from another brand costing twice as much, but that said here's what I have found in owning this dishwasher for a few months now: It's extremely quiet. It cleans anything you put in it without rinsing first and I mean even macaroni and cheese casserole dishes with baked on cheese. I have hard water and glassware comes out spotless. Yes, you need rinse aid like the directions say, but every dishwasher calls for that. All in all for the price they are asking, it would be pretty tough to do better. An installation tip: take the time to check and recheck the levelness of the unit, It must be perfectly level, or maybe with an extremely slight tilt toward he rear. I did not level it well enough the first time and it dripped a little bit. I pulled it out, re-leveled it, took my time and it's perfect! Note: those who post that they had trouble with the soap dispenser opening probably didn't read the manual, and are not following the loading instructions. I follow the loading instructions and have never had any trouble at all. Bottom line: this is a quality piece, and for the price when you compare features it's a good buy. I'd recommend it for sure. The one quibble I have is that the baskets and basket wheels could be a little sturdier/heavier, but time will tell - have not had any problems so far.

Frigidaire Professional

I love the look and features of this machine. I also love you can't hear it running. The only thing is I have a hard time getting my dishes to get clean. I have to put it on the longest wash and dry and still have to rinse before washing them. Even with the rinsing they are not always clean. I have a lot of calcium in my water but my other machine cleaned well. So, I am a little disappointed as I have a stove like this product and love it.

Dirty Dishes

I loaded up the new dishwasher with some baking dishes, including the paddle from my mixer. My dishwashers in the past have been able to clean the paddle even if I don't pre-wash it. Well this dishwasher wasn't able to do anything. The paddle looked like it did when I put it in. I took it out, ran it clean under the kitchen faucet and put it back in for a second try. The glasses came out dirty with a film on them, plates had food left on them. This dishwasher only works if you pre-wash all your dishes. Why have it if you can only use it for a drying rack?

BETTER THAN OUR LAST ONE

On the plus side, the dishwasher is very quiet, very nice looking. On the minus side, I still have to rinse the dishes, if I don't, the top rack of dishes come out spotty, with some food crusted on which either means rerunning the dishwasher or washing by hand. I did have a problem with the soap door not opening but after rereading the manual, realized I had dishes placed too close for the door to open. I was looking at another brand, but went with the frigidaire due to the fact that it matched all the other appliances we were purchasing when remodeling our kitchen.

Not bad

We had problems in the beginning and had a hard time getting a technician to come out. Once they came out and fixed the washer, it's being doing pretty well. It's very quiet, but the cycles take a while. i like that it has an energy saver feature, but sometimes during the cycles the soap dispenser doesn't open therefore the dishes didn't get any dishwashing detergent on them at all. The top rack dishes don't dry very well either. Finally I wouldn't say it's the best on getting food off of the dishes. We normally scrub the dishes by hand first and then run them through the washer.

Elegant outside, quiet

The best features are that this dishwasher is VERY QUIET, simply beautiful on the outside, stainless on the inside, adjustable shelves so that taller plates can fit on the bottom. You must be careful not to load anything tall on the lower rack by the soap dispenser or it will not open. I use the energy saver cycle, and my dishes always come out clean - but I always rinse my dishes before washing. My only concern is that the upper rack squeaks when we push it in, and the bottom rack comes off track easily when loaded. The racks seem a little flimsy, but hopefully they will last a long time if they are nylon. I like the bar going across the top on the outside - where I can hang a pretty hand towel. It is easy to clean and doesn't smudge. It truly is so quiet you forget it's on!! So far the good features outweigh the negative ones - so I would recommend it - however, I did get the service agreement from the store where we bought it - just in case!!

Not what I expected

Love, love the quietness of this machine; also love the adjustable shelves. Do NOT LOVE having to have pump replaced just inside the warranty period (thank heavens); DO NOT LOVE that this is the only machine I have used that my tea mugs get dirtier the more I wash them (tea stains). I've never had this happen before. DO NOT LOVE that I can't use the recommended dishwasher tablets or rinse aid - because of hard water according to the on-line Frigidaire technician. I moved from a farm with well water so I really have had experience with hard water and dishwashers and have never had this problem before. NO, I would not recommend this machine to anyone.

We've had it for about 4 months and have been very happy with it. Its very quiet and does a great job!

Worst Dishwasher ever

Both my sister and bought this dishwasher for our homes. We have the same comment - this diswasher is terrible on washing dishes. We both have soft water in our homes, but sometimes the dispenser does not unlatch and dispense the soap. If you don't put the wash on hi temp bost, the dishes come out still dirty and you have to hand wash half the load. It's quite, we'll give you that, but what good is quiet when you have to re-wash your dishes by hand!

NO ROOM

I purchased the dishwasher along with a refer, microwave and stove from the same "Professional" line. I have been disappointed with a couple of design flaws. I assumed that "Professional" would mean larger, heavy duty equipment. My experience has shown that there isn't clearence for large dinner plates to avoid the upper spinning wash arm unless I angle the dishes, thus cutting the available utilization. The lower tray is constantly coming off the tracks requiring repositioning, sometimes with a load of dishes in it.

Unbelievable

I have purchased a few dishwashers over my lifetime. I have NEVER been so disappointed in a product more than with my Frigidaire "Professional" series dishwasher. The dishes and especially the glassware come out with white spots EVERY time. The technicians have come by 3 times in the 2 months that I own it. They have put oil, vinegar, changed the drain hose and still there are soapy spots. They said I wasn't using the right detergent, then I was using too much. THIS IS NOT MY FIRST DISHWASHER! I never realized Frigidaire produces such delicate dishwashers. Otherwise I would have bought another brand And on a final note buyer be ware...the store I bought this product from is a large and popular chain in Quebec, Canada. After 2 months of being and having technicians come to look at it the store tells me that I have exceeded their 30 day satisfaction guarantee. Typical!

I despise this dishwasher. We had it less than a year before it needed to be repaired because it wouldn't drain. Luckily it was still under warranty. The bottom dish rack comes off the track constantly and is very hard to put back on when it is full of heavy dishes. Also, the rubber gasket gets in the way when we try to push the rack all the way in. The dishes do not come clean and have a white film on them even when we use Jet Dry. We have better luck using the expensive little detergent packs but they do not always dissolve! I ran the dishwasher twice and even broke the detergent pack open and it STILL didn't dissolve!! The ONLY good thing about this dishwasher is that it is quiet. I will probably never buy another Frigidaire dishwasher and as soon as we can, we will try to sell this one and buy a better brand.

Not a happy Camper

Dishes do not always come clean. Soap Dispensing door does not always open up? Rinse aid unit always Lo, even if you fill it every day! Dish trays do not roll easily in and out.

Cleans ok, but problems less than a year

Cleans ok and runs quiet, but bottom rack frequently comes off track and is diificult to get back on, particularly if loaded. Have owned for about a year and seal failed on door leaking water all over wood floors in kitchen. Don't have much experience in dishwasher shopping, but all in all not too happy with this purchase.

Dishwasher Review

This dishwasher is wonderful, very quiet--you do not hear it running. The ease of removing the stainless filter as well as the mesh filter is an added bonus to being able to keep the machine working well. The only problem we have encountered involves the silverware racks the grey plastic is not very sturdy/ durable. We have noticed on all three the bottom portions are cracked and portions have broken off.

Super Quiet

I installed this dishwasher in the butler's pantry of my new, old Victorian a year ago and whenever I have a dinner party and guests help with the clean-up people are amazed at the lack of noise from this machine. And I mean machine. China and crystal settings have not damaged a single Waterford Marquis wineglass or Royal Doulton plate. No fingerprints, easy to load, have never had a situation when the detergent didn't dispense. I actually installed two sinks, one for food prep and one for cleaning with a drainboard next to the dishwasher and my little kitchen works like the galley on a yacht. Thanks Frigidaire!

Quietness

This is really amazing dishwasher ,beautiful style and the thing that I like the most is its QUIETNESS.

Super quiet - great replacement

We needed to replace a Kitchenaid that we bought with the house - 10+ years old. Things we liked and wanted: roomy stainless steel interior, adjustable racks, quiet operation. Things we've learned to live with now after 3 months: the dispenser won't open if plates are stacked in the front bottom row, the bottom rack comes off track easily if the dishes are not balanced properly. Annoyances that we've overcome, but signs of not-well-thought-out design. Overall, we're happy with the purchase - it's worth the extra for the versatility and quiet.

As usual, you get what you pay for

We couldn't be happier with our new machines, it complements all of our other Frigidaire appliances, which we purchased 12 years ago. Our old dishwasher still ran, but had some mechanical problems, so we replaced it with an upgraded model. Looking for another 12 years of heavy use

I really like my dishwasher as it is so quiet, but the thing that drives me crazy is that the green light comes on at the end of the dishwashing cycle--well, I'm usually in bed so it doesn't do me any good. It's so quiet that my husband, who doesn't hear well, doesn't know that it is on so I have to put stickies by the handle to say it's on every time I run the dishwasher. The green light should be on when the dishwasher is working so he can look and see it is on. When it goes off, it should beep so if it is during the day, I can open it up and let it air dry. Just my 2 cents.

Awesome

I have had this dishwasher fro 4 months and I absolutely love it. The stainless steel inside is very nice, the dishes are ALWAYS sparkling clean. It is so large compared to previous dishwashers. The most amazing thisng is it is so quiet you don't even hear it running.

Frugal friend favors Frigidaire

Buy this model and you'll have a purchase of which you can boast. I don't easily part with my money, so I scoured the dishwasher market and Consumer Reports for over a year. Though I knew the benefit of stainless steel, I thought it was out of my price range...Frigidaire made it affordable, attractive, and so very quiet...very small house, I wanted a quiet machine...my cat doesn't even get startled when it clicks on. Hidden controls offer a myriad of wash/dry combinations ...I like "economy" & "air dry". The utensil caddy is an easy to remove "clean & carry" which is terrific for distant silverware drawers...and if needed, rack tines can be swiveled in an out of position to accommodate various load configurations. Yes, I recommend this model.

Bang for the Buck

We bought this dishwasher as a complete Frigidaire appliance upgrade to a remodeled kitchen. This is definitely the quietest dishwasher we have ever used. We have owned it for about 6 months now, and so far it has been a worthy purchase. The trays and silverware rack are handy for the small items. Dish cleanliness is typical, and we still pre-rinse dishes to ensure they come out clean.

Works Great!

My new model FPHD2491KF replaced my former Frigidaire model Professional Series DW that I had for approx. 3 yrs because it had started to get noisy. This new one does a fantastic job at cleaning the dishes as did the previous model. It literally removes dried on oatmeal, eggs and macaroni in one cycle. It is fairly quiet, as my kitchen is open to my family room where the TV is. I can watch TV while the DW runs and do not have to turn up the volume, that is a major plus! It has great styling and I really like the stainless steel interior. The racks could be a little sturdier. I do like that it dries the dishes perfectly where I never have to towel anything when I unload it (the fan assisted drying is a plus), just make sure to load it as it is shown in the owners manual. Over all, I find it to be great product for the price and I am very pleased with it's performance.

Good Dishwasher

The dishwasher is quiet. The only noise you hear is the water splashing around. The dishes come out clean, except out glasses are coming out filmy. We use rinse aid and will try other detergents to try to correct this. The hidden controls are nice, but the 'clean' light is hard to see with the door closed. It is a good value if you can find it on sale. We found ours for 30% off MSRP.

Quiet & Clean!

This is a great dishwasher. It's very quiet - in this price range it is quieter than a comparable Bosch and it has more features than a Bosch. It has the built in disposal so you don't have to worry about food particles. Some people have written concerns about the soap dispenser door not opening, but if you follow the instructions and load the dishwasher properly you won't have any problems. The stainless looks great and the hidden controls are nice. Probably the best feature is that it has a clean sensor so it extends or ends the cycle whenever it senses that the dishes are clean. Very smart and very cool!

Great Dishwasher

This is a great dishwasher. It's extremely quiet and does a excellent job of removing anything left on plate or utensils. I like the indicator that warns you when the rinse aid is depleted. Have had this for a bit over 3 months now and am very happy with our choice. The exterior stainless looks great, and doesn't fingerprint badly as some other makes do. Our only negative comment would be that a Professional top of the line machine such as this should include a utility basket such as that included with the lesser Gallery models. I bought one separately so we could wash larger knives and such for around $35. Thats the only reason I gave it a 4 on features. The only other comment I might offer is that the display is on the door edge (with the controls) and is hidden under the edge of the countertop when in use. In order to see how much time is left, one has to open the door to look at the display. It might be nice to have the display visible on the front, although it might detract from the clean look the front now has. All in all we're extremely happy with this machine and would highly recommend it.

Dishwasher Review

We love the complete Professional Series of appliances. The dishwasher is ultra quiet. Make sure not to load tall dishes in the front near the soap dispenser. They will prevent the flap from opening completely and all soap will NOT be dispensed.

The best dishwasher I have ever owned

I have owned a lot of dishwashers in my lifetime and my new Frigidaire is far superior to any others. It is so quiet we don't even know it is running. Everything that goes in comes out sparkling clean. I would recommend this product highly. Very pleased with my purchase.
