      Happy with purchase
I bought this dehumidifier for my vacation house, and it is exactly what I needed. The manual controls allow it to pop back on in the event of a power blip. I also was able to hook up a hose for automatic draining with no problem. The humidity in my walk out basement is staying between 50-54%.

      Just what I needed
I had a 1980's model that was loud and didn't have a filter. Not to mention, it was an energy hog and produced a lot of heat. So far, I can't complain. Works great for normal sized areas, most likely too small for full basement use. All in all... solid, well built and modern.

This unit seems to get the job done with minimum hassle. It makes the usual fan type sound, and you can occasionally hear the drip of the water into the collection bucket. But, it definitely gets the water out of the air, and stops on a dime when the bucket is full. It might be better to buy a larger unit if you have a lot of dampness. But, for an average need, this unit is absolutely fine.

      continuous drain does not work
I planned to use this in my basement with a hose hooked to a drain so that I would not have to empty the bucket. When I hooked the hose up the bucket continues to fill. The instructions do not say that you need to do anything other than hook up the hose. I have read other places that you need to take out the styrofoam block in the cut-off float. I just tried this and will wait for it to fill up, but it seems then that the hose will only empty when the bucket overflows, and I would rather the unit not have to run with a constantly full bucket of water. If this method fixes it then it is still a very poorly designed unit given the lack of instructions and the design flaw. If that does not fix it then the unit is just plain terrible.

      Not happy
I bought this dehumidifer with the intensions of using the continuous drainage with a hose. That does not work. I hooked up the hose as the instructions say and it still shuts off when the bucket is full. I read the other review that says to remove the styrofoam block, I did this...it still does not work. I may just have a faulty machine but other than the drainage hose not working, the unit seems to be working fine. Very unhappy with it.

      Poor Instructions
The unit seems well made and is running OK. But, the instructions fail to mention one important detail. For use with a drain hose, the polystyrene block in the float has to be removed. Otherwise, the unit shuts down when the float indicates a full tank. Of course, the instructions should include a strong warning about putting the polystyrene block back into the float if the continuous drain approach is abandoned.
