    Dehumidifiers

    1. What does the dehumidifier’s capacity refer to?

The capacity of the dehumidifier unit refers to the amount of moisture the unit can remove from the air in a 24-hour period. For example, a 30 pint dehumidifier will remove up to 30 pints of moisture from the air in a 24-hour period, until the desired humidity level in the room is reached and if the bucket is emptied regularly.

    2. What happens if the dehumidifier’s bucket gets full and I'm not around? Will the bucket overflow?

No, your dehumidifier will not overflow. All of our dehumidifiers are engineered with an automatic shut-off feature – when the bucket gets full, your unit will turn off on its own.

    3. Is there a way to set up my dehumidifier so that it drains continuously, rather than collecting water?

Yes. Frigidaire dehumidifiers have a hose attachment in the back that lets you connect the unit to a hose. This will bypass the bucket and the overflow protection valve, allowing your dehumidifier to run continuously without you ever having to empty the bucket.

Note: If you choose to connect a hose to your dehumidifier, it’s important to follow the hook-up and drain requirements described in the Use & Care Manual.

    4. Will my dehumidifier freeze in cold temperatures?

All Frigidaire dehumidifiers are rated for low-temperature operation. They will function without freezing to temperatures as low as 41˚F.

    5. I have an issue with mold and mildew in my house. Will a dehumidifier help?

Mold and mildew thrive in moist, warm climates. And a dehumidifier’s main function is to remove humidity from the air, which not only improves the comfort of a space but also results in an environment that is less conducive to the growth and spread of mold and mildew.

Please note, though, that a dehumidifier can’t remove mold and mildew that is already established.

For detailed instructions on eliminating existing mold, and to learn more about the relationship of asthma to mold, consult a specialist or contact your local government health agencies.
