      Fits the need perfectly
      We own an old house that was built before central heat or air conditioning. As part of our renovation we looked at the various heating and air conditioning options available to us. Since it is a 2 story house with a large open area between the 2 floors our centralized system option pretty much requires a 2 zone system and the installation of duct work. The cost for this would easily exceed $6,000. Instead of a centralized system we opted to install multiple mini split units. We installed a pair of 12,000 BTU heat pumps in the larger areas and 9,000 BTU heat pumps in the bed rooms and smaller areas. The only down side is that each has an outdoor condenser unit but we can live with that due to the amount of flexibility that we now have for controlling the heating and cooling of our house. It would be highly recommended to hire a certified professional to perform the installation if a person doesn't have rudimentary wiring experience or access to HVAC gauges and a vacuum pump. But if you have these then the installation is quite simple. I can completely install one of these units in 2 to 3 hours. These are efficient and very quiet.
